South Asian University (SAU) is a pioneering institution created through the joint initiative of the eight SAARC nations: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Conceived at the 13th SAARC Summit in Dhaka in 2005, SAU aims to pool regional resources to provide cutting-edge knowledge and nurture regional consciousness. The academic journey of the University began in 2010 with the admission of its first batch of students.
The university’s mandate focuses on promoting understanding among South Asian communities, providing liberal and humane education, and enhancing the region’s capacity in critical fields like science, technology, and management. SAU strives to equip the brightest students with world-class education and prepare them as future leaders. Located in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi, SAU provides Bachelor’s, Master’s and Research programs spanning diverse disciplines in Science, Technology, Engineering, Management and Social Sciences. Its multicultural and cosmopolitan environment fosters intellectual growth and regional collaboration, enabling students to gain a distinctively South Asian perspective.
Currently, SAU houses various Faculties and Centers: Engineering and Technology, Economics, Legal Studies, Life Sciences & Biotechnology, Mathematical Sciences, Social Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, International Studies, Management, Interdisciplinary Studies, Arts & Design and Climate Change & Sustainability, with plans for future expansion to around 5000 students, SAU continues to serve as a beacon of academic excellence and regional unity.

Fee Structure for Different Programmes
1. Admission and One-Time Fee:
Registration Fee: USD 20 (Non-refundable)
Admission Fee: USD 200 (Non-refundable, payable upon admission)
Refundable Security Deposit: USD 200 (25% will be deducted for SAU Alumni Fee)

BA/MA/LLM/MCA/MSc Computer Science/ MSc Applied Mathematics: USD 600
MTech CSE / Integrated MTech CSE: USD 800
MSc Biotechnology/ MS Climate Change & Sustainability: USD 800
MBA/MS Business Analytics: USD 1500
Executive MBA: USD 2000

*Candidates admitted to the PhD programmes through the Direct Mode are granted a 75% concession in the semester fee.
Admission to various Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programmes is offered through following modes:
SAU Entrance Test Mode:
For Indian Candidates: Center-based online tests conducted by the University.
For other SAARC Candidates (excluding India): Proctored online tests on stipulated dates.
Direct Admission Mode including Executive programmes (Without SAU Entrance Test):
In India: Based on scores from national-level tests (Like JEE/CUET/NEET/CAT/CLAT/NET/GATE etc).
In Other SAARC Countries: Based on national-level test scores or qualifying examination results from recognized institutions.
For Non-SAARC Candidates: Based on scores obtained in their qualifying examination.
For Executive PhD & Executive MBA Programme: Admission is based on professional work experience and individual performance in interview.

- Candidates who are currently taking the qualifying examination or awaiting the results of the national-level test will be given another opportunity to update this information.
